build update_versions pains, Zend, phpize, imagick

I did a ./build update_versions
trying a few updates, including PHP 5.3.*

The Zend was updated to 3.3.3 and I think this may be causing my present problem. I did try to "update" PHP back to 5.2.14, but am still getting errors when I try to "phpize" imagick-3.0.0. I am trying to reinstall the php-imagick, because it got broken on the update_versions.

Please, if someone can help ASAP, I would appreciate it. ...I still have to try to restore apc and uploadprogress too. What a pain.

Firstly, Zend Optimizer does not support PHP 5.3 yet. The problem might be related to the latest version of autoconf. Please send me your server details if you'd like me to take a look at your problem.

Should I uninstall the Zend Optimizer then? I am presently back to PHP 5.3 because when I upgraded from 5.2.14, it broke the adodb on one of my sites. So, I upgrade the adodb to adodb5's most current version and then the site worked again. So, now if I am degrading back to 5.2.14, it will break again (already tested and it does break), so I will need to downgrade the adodb as well.

I realize if you log on to the system, you will probably figure out things quickly, but I am hoping you will offer help without this. ...Is there some sort of patch or should I try to rebuild things??

Zend off

I tried rebuilding with Zend off in the options.conf. I was wanting to try to install eAccelerator. The phpize still is not working and I cannot install eAccelerator. It does seem to be an autoconf issue, but how to fix that?

Thanks, Jeff! I assumed that's what he meant. ...I know, he is a genius with servers. ...The problem is, I am not at liberty to give out that login information. I would need troubleshooting through the forums here. Also, it would probably help others more, with the troubleshooting being discussed here. ...Do you have any idea what I should check on, to get the phpize going again?
 
Generally if you have a problem with versions that don't work with each other you can go back to the last common denominator that does work.

configure warning

I did wipe the custombuild and reinstalled it, with version 1.2, setting the php to cgi for PHP 5.3.3 and using suphp.

The phpize seems to be working better now. (By the way, Zend is set to no, I deleted the php.ini that was pointing to Zend and copied back the bak copy that Zend made.)

However, I am still getting the following, when trying to phpize imagick php:

Okay, I am really rolling now, which is awesome. Still some issues and would LOVE some help!

I still ultimately am wanting the php_xsl.so and php_curl.so working, since I still get error messages on those (they are not commented out in my php.ini yet because I am just trying to get them fixed).

How do I get php-common and php-xml installed with php-xsl ? Doing the --with-xsl is obviously not enough, in the configure.php5 file, if everything is not installed.

All I can find through google is rpm and yum for php-common. Where do you even get the source for installation?

It's one thing to require to do things the DA way; it's another to make it easier for us who have to search on these packages. I think there should be a wiki page or something with a link to where to get packages for all of the php modules.
 
I'm not sure what else I can help you with; perhaps someone else can. php-common is the name of an rpm package; you won't find it by that name anywhere else.

What specific files do you need? Perhaps someone else will take the time to look; I just don't have time to figure it out right now :(.

Jeff, thank you for your honest answer. And you may very well be right about it being the name of an rpm. But then how to get it done the DA way is the question.

I did as floyd recommended and uninstalled the php modules which were installed by rpm. This included:

php-common x86_64 5.1.6-27.el5 installed 397 k
php-gd x86_64 5.1.6-27.el5 installed 333 k
php-xml x86_64 5.1.6-27.el5 installed 241 k

The goal is to get php xsl installed. I need it for a drupal module that imports html. And it is useful for other drupal modules as well.

I had gone to a lot of work to begin with, to get the right and compatible rpm's. Now, as I understand from floyd, it is a no-no. So, then I need to know where to get the source packages for installation, as floyd said is required.

Am I completely on the wrong track? Can someone help? Thanks!

You already have the source for php. Look in /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild
 
Now I have done it. xsl is not set in php.ini either. There is no php_xsl.so. I know how to do it now with custombuild.
 
cd /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild
./build clean
./build update

add --with-xsl to configure/ap2/configure.php5

./build php

I answered yes to everything.
